Just outside of Bainbridge in southern Ohio, you will find the Country Crust Bakery. They offer a wide variety of baked goods including pies, fry pies (if you’ve had a Hostess Fruit Pie, you have had a pale, processed and preservative laden shadow of a fry pie), cookies, cakes, donuts, and these golden brown morsels of awesomeness.

I’m not usually a pretzel guy. Frankly, they’ve never done much for me. All too often they are dry and too chewy. These however… they are light and fluffy, moist and buttery. They’re usually coming right out of the oven when I get there and I get to watch them get brushed with butter and sprinkled with salt. I always… always… eat mine in the parking lot of the bakery. To do anything less is a disservice to the Mennonite community that operates this bakery (ok, maybe not…) and you miss out on one of the really great things in life - a well done, warm, buttery pretzel. Usually fresh from the oven. Oh, and if you buy more than $20 worth of stuff, you usually get one of these for free.

I know. I’m an enabler. Can’t help it.
